Since being first elected in 2003 Jeremy has been involved in many local campaigns as well as supporting individual constituents who have approached him for help and advice. The Scottish Parliament is responsible for legislating in devolved areas such as health, transport, education, justice, agriculture, local government and the environment, with some shared areas with the Westminster Parliament such as UK transport, broadcasting and telecommunications.
If a local community or group contacts him to gain support Jeremy will meet them and discuss the issue and agree how to take it forward. He has support from two members of staff who help with daily contact on casework and making arrangements for his diary in the constituency and for constituents visiting the Scottish Parliament.
Jeremy prefers to work with local communities and organisations rather than just on their behalf, and together there have been some significant achievements since 2003. See the record of action section if this website for examples of this campaigning success.
In both his constituency and national roles Jeremy is very keen to involve constituents as much as possible. He has welcomed more than 2,000 constituents and school pupils to the Scottish Parliament and has been pleased to support many local pupils and students to do work experience in the Parliament.
If you have a local or community issue you would like Jeremy to take up, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
