Outspoken on threat to local economic support for Borders

Jeremy has spoken out against the axeing of Scottish Enterprise Borders. After helping secure ring fenced European funding for the Borders he is concerned that the decision to abolish SEB removes a dedicated local economic voice for the Borders. Jeremy has campaigned for more civil service relocations to the Borders and has asked that the changes to the policy, that will make it harder for another body such as the Pensions Agency that was relocated to Tweedbank to be moved here, are reconsidered.

‘made in the Scottish Borders’

Jeremy has worked closely with local textiles companies in promoting and supporting the local textiles industry against unfair overseas competition. More is required to protect ‘made in the Scottish Borders’ textiles, food and manufactured goods produced locally.
