Housing has been the biggest single issue in Jeremy's mailbag since his election.

He has successfully campaigned for new investment into his constituency for social rented accommodation, and new affordable homes.

He worked with Eildon Housing Association to secure the Borders as a recognised area of particular housing pressure and successfully gained funding from the Scottish Government for 'land banking' particular areas in the Borders where land prices have risen the fastest. This has meant that more housing units have been able to be constructed.

The funding boost has meant that over 100 additional homes have been able to be built over and above the allocated funding would have allowed.

He has successfully persuaded Council colleagues in the Borders to have a more radical planning policy that secures at least 25% of any new development for affordable homes and he is supporting the new council built homes in Penicuik.
